Even​ on a night meant to​ highlight​ Lorenzo Brown’s G League​ MVP season, his Toronto​​ Raptors teammates were not letting him have it. On Friday night, Raptors 905 hosted the Long Island Nets for “Affiliate Night,” designed to highlight the connection between NBA club and G League squad. As part of the festivities, the first 1,000 fans to enter Paramount Fine Foods Centre received a Brown T-shirt.

Pascal Siakam took issue. A year before Brown was named MVP, Siakam was named finals MVP, bringing home a championship ring where last year’s 905 team only made it back to the finals. His point: Playoff success should be rewarded more than regular-season success, so where is Pascal Siakam night?

“First of all, I’m a D-League player, I’m not a G League player,” Siakam said, noting the league’s name change in 2017. “I don’t know if this question is for me, man. We’re talking about the G League. But today they told me it’s Lorenzo night. They said finals MVP don’t matter, you gotta be MVP MVP. I don’t know.”
