Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I wrote about Jordan Loyd’s early growth with Raptors 905, progress that’s helping fuel a terrific 9-3 start.

Raptors 905 returned home Sunday from a perfect three-game road trip to begin what’s always a big week in their books. A 106-91 victory against Grand Rapids was not only the quarter-marker for the young season, it bridged a successful trip to Wednesday’s game at Scotiabank Arena. The doubleheader with the parent club Raptors is an annual tradition that usually gets a bit more spotlight on the development program, and they’re coming in hot as winners of four in a row.

There’s plenty to keep an eye on for those dropping in for the twin bill on Wednesday, too. Chris Boucher and Jordan Loyd, the Raptors’ pair of two-way players, have been running rampant on the league, posting huge stat lines and leading the 905 to a 9-1 record when both are in the lineup (they’re 0-2 otherwise). Boucher has been perhaps the G League’s best player, Loyd one of its steadiest.

Sunday’s game saw them lead the team once more, helping turn a 17-point deficit into an 11-point victory. With a quarter season in the books and the showcase day coming Wednesday, we’re going to take a deeper look at both players this week (Loyd today, Boucher on Wednesday) to check in on their progress.
