Title: Delon Wright’s season debut with the 905 should please Raptors

Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I looked at Delon Wright’s first game action since July and why it should excite Raptors fans.
As far as beginnings go, airballing a layup, catching the miss, then being whistled for a traveling violation hardly ranks as auspicious. More than six months after dislocating his shoulder and tearing his labrum back on July 16 at Las Vegas Summer League, Raptors point guard Delon Wright would have been forgiven for having a momentary crisis of confidence.
How he opted to respond instead was a quick reminder that the oft-forgotten prospect is still someone the franchise should be excited about.
Wright’s 2016-17 season debut was Wednesday in the D-League with Raptors 905. If it wasn’t clear — apologies for the video quality — that highlight shows Wright blocking a jump-shot from former Cavalier and Laker scorer Manny Harris while face-guarding — a difficult play for any on-ball defender — then taking the ball in transition, crossing over a defender, and firing a beautiful behind-the-back pass to a surging Axel Toupane for an easy two points.
