Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I wrote some more about the Raptors’ clutch play and how, some nights, even a better game plan isn’t enough.

 

In an instant, there was progress.

Just two games after faltering down the stretch against the Utah Jazz and raising questions about their ability to close out games and apply their philosophical shift on the offensive end to high-leverage situations, the Raptors looked like a different team.

Playing tight against the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, the Raptors executed expertly. Tied entering the fourth, they’d take an eight-point lead with the bench on the floor, then never allowed Minnesota to get closer than within two. In the final four minutes or so, they ran the following offensive plays:
