Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I sat down with Toronto Wolfpack owner David Argyle to talk about what comes next in year three of the franchise’s existence.
Malcolm Miller knew something was wrong immediately.
Back in July, during the third quarter of a Summer League game in Las Vegas, Miller was chasing down Hamadou Diallo of the Okalahoma City Thunder in transition. He launched for the block from behind and connected with the ball, but his foot caught Diallo and upended him. Miller’s face was heading directly toward the baseline, and he instinctively put his arms out to break his fall, landing hard on his right shoulder.
Miller then rolled into a seated position looking away from the court, held his left hand to his right arm, and let out an audible curse.
“When I first landed, I knew I landed hard,” Miller said. “I usually don’t try to break my fall like that but I don’t want to have a fractured skull or anything. So I broke my fall. I immediately knew it was out. I was upset, the fact that I knew to what degree I was injured.”
