Title: Anthony Davis to the Raptors? Dare to dream, Toronto

Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I analyzed the Raptors chances of landing Anthony Davis now that he’s requested a trade.
The Raptors should trade for a superstar requesting to be moved.
It feels like we’ve been here before, it was just this past summer that the Raptors took advantage of the breakdown in the relationship between Kawhi Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs, landing a top-five player for what people perceived as a discount. Leonard brought the uncertainty of a season lost to injury and the threat of his departure in free agency, but after five years being quite good and falling short of great, the Raptors deemed their position worthy of a major gamble.
Anthony Davis has now requested a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans, and the Raptors should look to double-down on their Leonard move if the opportunity presents itself. The circumstances are a little different — more time left on Davis’ contract, a pattern of smaller injuries (that may have contributed to the rift) rather than one big one and a team facing (ostensibly) less urgency to deal him — but the thinking will be similar: The Raptors are no longer content with being good, and any measured gamble to raise their ceiling in the short term could be worthwhile.
Let’s explore the possibility.
