Title:Career nights for Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby an alternate Raptors reality come to life

Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I wrote about coinciding career nights for Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby, an important night for the team’s present and future.
When OG Anunoby tied a career-high with 21 points back on Dec. 21, he denied knowing he was closing in on the milestone during a post-game scrum. As he walked away, though, he leaned in and revealed to The Athletic that yes, he knew the whole time.
Anunoby is not particularly verbose, but he also seems to have embraced his reputation as a short-talker, saving his best and funniest moments for when the cameras are off. He knew, then, that the question was coming Wednesday after he set a new career-high with 22 points in a 129-120 victory against the Washington Wizards: Did he know he’d one-upped his earlier best?
“No. I didn’t know,” he said, before starting to laugh when bullshit was called.
Were Pascal Siakam to deny knowing he was approaching a career-high, it would be a little easier to believe. It’s almost hard to believe he’d have been able to keep track of where that bar sat, as he’d continually pushed it higher as the season’s gone along.
