Title: Danny Green is the Lord of the Fries, and other takeaways from a Raptors blowout in New York

Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I wrote about which Raptors have helped fans get the most free french fries this year and, I guess, a blowout against the Knicks.
I don’t like potatoes.
I felt like I needed to get that out of the way. It’s weird, I know. I am a 32-year-old with the last name Murphy who doesn’t and has never enjoyed potatoes or anything with potato in it. Mashed, scalloped, sweet, chipped, whatever. It was very difficult to spend 11 days in Ireland last summer with this weird food hangup. Did you know the only substitution a lot of places will offer you is mashed peas? And because of my potato thing, I’m like, ‘Aye, fire me up that baby food.’
I bring this up because my distaste for potatoes extends to the french fried variety, and it has cost me a great deal of free money this Raptors season.
You see, the Raptors have a promotion this year where if the team hits 12 3-pointers in a game, fans can receive a free medium fry from McDonald’s the following day between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. It’s that simple, and with the explosion of 3-point shooting in recent years – the Raptors are on pace to break last year’s franchise record in 3-point makes and attempts – it’s easy money.
So easy, in fact, that the Raptors had earned fans free fries by halftime against the Knicks on Thursday, hitting 12-for-26 from long-range to open up a 19-point halftime lead. Sadly, the promotion does not allow you to pull-ahead your fry claim and run out for free halftime fries, so fans still have to wait until tomorrow morning, waiting out the rest of the 117-92 Raptors victory fry-less.
