OAKLAND, Calif. — As the dust begins to settle from the Toronto Raptors’ first ever NBA championship, it’s time to reflect on what’s really important here: The luxury tax implications.
I’m kidding. I mean, I’m going to mention those. Obviously. Can’t let covering a championship change me, and we have a couple of weeks ahead where we’ll be laying out a lot of salary cap info and offseason scenarios. That’s for after the parade, though.
For today, as we all try to put last night into perspective, I wanted to do what I’ve done in each of the last two series and share a bunch of stray thoughts, feelings, moments and notes. What follows are 40 things still on my mind the afternoon after the Raptors became NBA champions, a number I settled on because the Raptors opened as 40-to-1 long-shots to win the NBA championship at the end of last season.
