Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I wrote about Norman Powell coming through with a career-best scoring night for the Raptors when they needed it most.
When a playoff series is hanging in the balance, when a starter is injured, when the offence is turning in an unconscionably poor night: Norman Powell has a sense for when the Toronto Raptors need him most.
While Powell’s inconsistency in his first five seasons has been a problem at the low end, it by definition means he’s had some highs, as well. There are times he struggles and times he thrives, and at least anecdotally, he’s always seemed to do the latter when the Raptors have no other option.
Take Friday’s 90-83 victory against the Orlando Magic.
