Title: ‘Terrible’ shooting night aside, Kyle Lowry’s return to Raptors is now a novel question of ceiling rather than floor

Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I wrote about Kyle Lowry’s return to the Raptors and whether he’s more important to the ceiling than the floor now.
Throughout Kyle Lowry’s Toronto Raptors tenure, there have been a handful of certainties. He will argue with referees in an animated fashion. He will demand a speedy inbound pass to beat a defence up the court in transition. He will do a lot of little things that go unnoticed until they don’t, when they become impossible to ignore. And for years, it has been nearly a lock that Lowry will be a much better quote after a poor performance than after a good one.
Lowry’s return to the Raptors did not go quite as planned Tuesday. Before a reporter could even get the full question out about his 2-of-18 shooting night, Lowry was ready to take ownership in the plainest of terms.
“That’s terrible,” he said.
