Title: How the Raptors brought Tyler Ennis home to recover, with hope for an NBA return

Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I wrote about Tyler Ennis’ comeback trail, from a fringe NBA career to a gruesome injury in Turkey to the doorstep of his hometown team.
For a cerebral player, Tyler Ennis is at his best when his mind slows down and instinct takes over.
That’s what happened at the end of overtime on Nov. 23. With Raptors 905 down three to Erie, Ennis corralled a swing pass and went on autopilot to survey the situation in front of him: Two seconds to go, defenders scrambling and no hope of getting to the rim with enough time to get possession back. He offered a hesitation head-fake to lose his defender, took a hard step left, planted and pulled up for a three. The shot found the bottom of the net, extending a game that would ultimately go to a third overtime and see the 905 pick up their first win of the season.
It’s a shot Ennis may not have taken a couple of years ago. It’s one he couldn’t have taken a couple of months ago.
