Title: Raptors’ COVID-19 test results are encouraging, though other questions remain

Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I wrote about the Raptors getting back negative COVID-19 test results (with one result pending), a tough 48 hours, and what comes next for the team and for everyone else.
The phrase “results for one additional person are pending,” now hangs awkwardly at the end of a long sigh of unspeakable relief.
After a 48-hour wait that felt days longer, the Toronto Raptors announced Friday that all of the COVID-19 test results that were recently performed have come back negative after learning that a pair of recent opponents — Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz — had acquired the virus.
As for the outstanding results for that “one additional person?” That person’s role with the club, and the reason for the delay, are not clear, possibly due to privacy concerns. And so until that final result is public, it would be unfair to describe the Raptors as “in the clear,” although the fact that all of the tests have come back negative is certainly good news.
