Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I opened up the mailbag to look at Raptors roster and rotation questions ahead of a return to play, what the 2020 offseason could look like, and more.
We’ve made important progress in the NBA, graduating from “we don’t know” to “we can at least guess.”
That feels like meaningful change, at least as it pertains to our third mailbag of the league hiatus. There are major questions still being discussed or negotiated between the NBA and Disney or the NBA and NBPA or the NBA and medical experts, but we’re getting close enough to at least start thinking in preparation. Under the current plan, 22 teams will reconvene in Orlando after brief training camps at home (or in the case of the Raptors, possibly somewhere else in Florida), play eight reseeding games and then move into the playoffs as-usual, or as as-usual as anything can be in a neutral site with no fans.
There are, naturally, a lot of things to figure out. Today, we do our best with the information we have so far.
Let’s get it.
