Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I broke down the Raptors’ eight-game relaunch schedule and what it means for their playoff outlook.
The Toronto Raptors have a schedule for their return to play, and it is not an easy one.
The NBA announced the entire schedule for the league’s return to play on Friday, which gives us our first confirmed look at how the resumed competition format affects the Raptors. The Raptors were in a strong position prior to the hiatus, enough so that they should be insulated from all but the most dramatic of stumbles out of the gate. Still, randomness thrives in small samples, and the dual goals of wanting to lock up the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference and enter the playoffs in good shape — from a conditioning and chemistry standpoint — means the Raptors probably won’t take their eight-game slate lightly.
The Raptors are scheduled to arrive in Orlando on July 9, with three scrimmages to follow July 22-29 and their official reseeding schedule beginning Aug. 1.
