Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I wrote about OG Anunoby’s walk-off 3-pointer to bring the Raptors back from down 2-0 to the Celtics, a culmination of his career to date.
Eventually, OG Anunoby broke and smiled.
It took a few moments. It took just about everyone else on the Toronto Raptors, everybody watching in Toronto from 2,000 kilometres away and even some former teammates on Twitter to react first. It was, almost without question, the biggest moment of Anunoby’s career, and it took being mobbed — literally by his teammates and spiritually by a fanbase that can’t celebrate this moment as it celebrated so many a year ago — to break. This is a perfect snapshot of Anunoby, acting like a walk-off, game-winning, season-saving 3 was just business as usual.
“It was cool,” he said after the Raptors’ 104-103 stunning victory.
