Title: Isiaha Mike stashed himself in Germany. Now will the Raptors draft the Canadian?
Date: November 13, 2020

Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I wrote about Canadian draft prospect Isiaha Mike and how the pandemic has forced him to create a new path to the NBA.
The Toronto Raptors have never selected a local product in the NBA Draft. They could also be one of the teams for whom a draft-and-stash strategy makes sense with their second-round pick.
Isiaha Mike is hoping he can check both of those boxes for his hometown team on Nov. 18.
Mike is a 6-foot-8, Scarborough-born combo forward out of SMU with a projectable 3-point stroke and legitimate defensive potential. Even before looking at his passport, he registered as an interesting candidate for a two-way contract. Players with his size, 3-and-D skillset, and secondary scoring and playmaking abilities are usually worth tracking as they develop. Mike raises some of the same flags as under-drafted discoveries of the past.
