Synopsis: In my latest for The Athletic Toronto, I ranked the 2020 NBA Draft class through a Raptors lens.
Not since the 2016 NBA Draft, when the Toronto Raptors were gifted the No. 9 pick from the New York Knicks as a relic of the Andrea Bargnani trade in addition to their pick at No. 27, have we spent this much energy on the Raptors’ draft outlook.
We had a lot of extra time. And still, it’s tough to get a great handle on how things will play out for them in a flat, somewhat deep draft where opinions on players vary greatly, all in a condensed offseason. That’s part of the fun. And a massive part of the anxiety that comes with rolling out an official draft ranking. To be clear, someone like Sam Vecenie has a much richer handle on each prospect, and he should be your first stop for analysis ahead of the draft and on draft night. I think I have a solid handle on things and an idea of how the Raptors approach the draft, and it’s through that lens that I’ve tried to layout Wednesday’s draft below.
